RTsys SonaBlow MCM (Underwater acoustic firing device)

Sepcotech A/S

SonaBlow is an underwater acoustic firing device that lets EOD/clearance divers detonate naval mines without a physical electric firing line. It consists of a topside surface communication module (SCM) with a waterproof transducer and an underwater firing unit with an acoustic receiver and onboard energy source, capable of triggering two underwater electric detonators. A single operator can fire up to roughly 20 mines simultaneously, or use single, clock, consecutive, or countdown modes. Firing units can be attached to targets by divers or ROVs. Communication range is 2 km, extendable to 5 km with a positioning and relay beacon (PRB), and the system is rated to 300 m depth. Developed with the French Navy and funded through the French Defense Innovation Agency's RAPID program, SonaBlow is designed to work alongside RTsys' NemoSens and Comet AUVs as part of a manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) approach to mine neutralization.
