Sons of Liberty Gun Works - US AR-platform rifles
arrow_backTo the overviewSons of Liberty Gun Works builds AR-platform rifles in San Antonio, Texas. The company states that barrels, bolt carrier groups and receivers are machined in-house.
On 20 November 2025 SOLGW announced that a select-fire variant of the MK1 with an 11.5" barrel had been selected by U.S. Special Operations Command under the Combat Assault Rifle programme. Independent trade press corroborated the selection and described a trial programme covering heat, cold, dust, mud, salt fog and submersion. The contract value has not been made public. Fielding is described as incremental from 2026 and not as a replacement of the M4A1.
In March 2025 SOLGW announced an agreement to supply duty rifles to the SWAT unit at the Bexar County Sheriff's Office in Texas.
Material selection is documented at product level: receivers forged from 7075-T6, barrels in 41V50 chrome-moly-vanadium with nitride treatment or in 416R stainless steel, and bolts in Carpenter 158 steel, each magnetic-particle and high-pressure tested. On complete rifles SOLGW states a lifetime warranty on normal wear parts such as barrel, gas rings and furniture.
Beyond the MK1 the programme covers the L89 and EXO3 series plus two collaboration rifles: the OB1 with instructor Christian Craighead and the SAGE with Sage Dynamics.
