This is a hand-thrown infantry grenade made for use during offensive operations against soft targets. The grenade’s body contains an explosive charge, which is surrounded by small steel balls. When the grenade explodes, it produces overpressure and a shock wave; these are combined with the effect of small steel balls acting as shrapnel.
