B&T APC9K - the U.S. Army's submachine gun

In 2019 the U.S. Army picked the APC9K under the Sub Compact Weapon program, ahead of SIG Sauer among others. The initial order was 350 units with an option on up to 1,000 more. It was the first submachine gun the Army had bought in more than 50 years.

The weapon went to the protective details that guard staff officers. That work happens close in, in and around vehicles and buildings, and the gun rides concealed or low profile for a full day at a time. The K is the short 9 mm of the APC line, sized for exactly that: overall length and a fast follow-up shot count for more than reach.

Controls and accessories carry straight over from the rest of the APC series. A shooter who runs a full-length APC handles the K the same way. The line covers 9 mm, 10 mm, .40 and .45, plus 5.56x45 as the APC223.

The suppressor is not a bolt-on. B&T started in 1991 as a suppressor maker and still builds its own lines, today Impuls, PRINT-X and RBS. Host and suppressor come out of the same house in Thun, Switzerland.
