The Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX) is the institution in charge of the development and management of Wallonia’s domestic and international economic relations.

Belgium’s defence ecosystem has expanded rapidly in recent years, now comprising more than 500 companies active in the sector, of which over 100 have defense as their core business. Of these, 58% are located in Wallonia, the southern region of Belgium.

Defense is a major industrial pillar in Wallonia. With internationally recognized expertise, the region relies on a dynamic ecosystem combining large groups and innovative SMEs. Together, these players are capable of meeting the ambitions of the European defense strategy while seizing opportunities in the global market.
