Aclima is a Norwegian company and brand with more than 80 years of experience in developing and producing high-quality, functional wool garments. Our wool adventure began in Drammen, Norway, in 1939, when Eivind Johansen saw an opportunity to make insoles from discarded wool felt used in the local paper industry. Together with his wife Elsa, he started production under the name Tuna Tekstil AS. In 1998, the brand name was changed to Aclima.
Today, Aclima develops and produces high-quality wool garments and accessories for outdoor enthusiasts and professional users, including the armed forces, police, emergency services, and fire and rescue services.
For professional users, we develop garments where safety, functionality and comfort are essential. When conditions are demanding, what you wear closest to your body can make a significant difference. We therefore focus on combining functional design with the natural performance of merino wool.
Merino wool provides excellent insulation, efficiently manages moisture and helps regulate body temperature, while also reducing odour. These properties make wool garments particularly well suited for long days in the field, operational missions and work in cold and wet climates.
Aclima products have been used by the Norwegian Armed Forces since the 1960s and have been extensively tested by soldiers and professional users throughout the Nordic region. Today, our products are also used as part of the Nordic Combat Uniform (NCU) layering system.
Sustainability and responsible production are important parts of Aclima's philosophy. We continuously work to develop durable, functional and more sustainable products, with all our production taking place in Europe.
