SAFEgaiter™ is an innovative low-burden respiratory protection system developed by Norwegian MedTech company Watchbird® to address the everyday exposure risks faced by military personnel, law enforcement officers, first responders, and other professionals operating in demanding environments. Designed as a multifunctional neck gaiter with integrated particle filtration, SAFEgaiter™ provides effective respiratory protection against dust, smoke, combustion particles, aerosols, and other airborne contaminants without compromising mobility, communication, or operational effectiveness.

Developed in collaboration with the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), Norwegian Special Operations Forces (NORSOF), and operational end users, SAFEgaiter™ fills the critical gap between no protection and a full gas mask. Its lightweight, reusable design enables prolonged wear in operational environments where traditional respiratory equipment is impractical, while maintaining high levels of comfort and user acceptance.

Beyond respiratory protection, SAFEgaiter™ offers tactical advantages including reduced infrared signature, compatibility with existing operational equipment, flame-resistant materials, and seamless integration with military and law enforcement systems. Extensively tested under both laboratory and field conditions, it was developed to support operational readiness, survivability, and mission effectiveness in modern operational environments
