SwissP Shatter4K - anti-drone ammunition for rifles and machine guns

Shortly after leaving the muzzle, the Shatter4K projectile shell separates, and four effectors, small sub-projectiles, continue toward the target on slightly offset trajectories, quadrupling the probability of interaction with light aerial targets. Integration is a magazine change: no weapon modification, no sight adjustment.
SwissP Defence in Thun, Switzerland, developed Shatter4K specifically for defence against small drones; it is effective against NATO UAS Class I, micro and mini drones. Energy deposit stays high even on armed drones, while the controlled release of the effectors limits residual risk beyond the target: maximum shooting distance of the danger area is 420 m in 5.56 mm and 590 m in 7.62 mm, both at a 25-degree angle.
- 5.56x45 mm: 2.9 g projectile; approx. 960 m/s and approx. 290 J per effector at the muzzle.
- 7.62x51 mm: 8.4 g projectile; approx. 820 m/s and approx. 629 J per effector at the muzzle.
- Fires from standard service rifles and machine guns; the concept scales up to.50 Browning, and both calibres are NATO-codified, each under its own NSN.
Fibre-optic FPV drones, first-person-view attack drones steered through a cable, leave no radio signal to jam, and AI terminal guidance flies roughly the last 500 m of an attack on its own. NATO's Allied Command Transformation has asked industry for ways to detect and defeat fibre-guided drones, kinetic options included, and Shatter4K puts a kinetic option in the weapon the soldier already carries.
