In an era defined by rapid technological shifts and evolving security challenges, the demand for adaptable, high-fidelity military training has never been higher. At the forefront of this transformation is Guardiaris, a Slovenian defense tech company specializing in advanced simulation systems and proprietary training ecosystems. In this interview, Doris Škrjanec, Head of Sales at Guardiaris, discusses how their in-house technological sovereignty, cutting-edge GUARD® 2.0 simulation engine, and deployable solutions like the Mobile Training Center are reshaping operational readiness for modern armed forces worldwide.

Firstly, how did Guardiaris come into being as a company and why is your focus on the training and simulation sector?

Guardiaris was founded to meet the growing demand for modern, flexible, and operationally relevant training solutions within the defence sector, emerging from a clear understanding that traditional training methods alone are no longer sufficient for today's rapidly evolving security environments. From the beginning, the company recognized that armed forces require more immersive, adaptive, and scalable approaches to preparedness, particularly in an era defined by hybrid threats, multinational operations, and accelerated technological change. As a result, we chose to focus specifically on the training and simulation sector. By combining expertise in defence operations, advanced technologies, and simulation systems, Guardiaris was established to bridge the gap between real-world requirements and next-generation training capabilities. Rather than simply providing simulation platforms, we develop integrated training solutions and realistic mission scenarios tailored to the needs of modern defence forces.

Guardiaris has developed an extensive range of training solutions, from small arms up to armoured vehicles. What are the key solutions that you offer?

Guardiaris delivers advanced training and simulation solutions across the land, air, and sea domains, providing modern armed forces with highly realistic, scalable, and operationally focused training capabilities. All Guardiaris systems are developed using proprietary simulation engine GUARD®, with both software and hardware engineered and manufactured entirely in-house in Slovenia, Europe. This vertically integrated approach gives us complete control over technology development, system integration, cybersecurity, customization, and future upgrades, while ensuring high levels of quality, and rapid adaptation to evolving operational requirements. The portfolio spans the Small Arms Trainer for individual and infantry unit training, the MMVT simulator for armoured and mechanized crews covering tactical manoeuvring, convoy operations and mission rehearsal, and the Mobile Training Center for deployable small arms and anti-tank training. We also develop a range of advanced drone and unmanned systems simulators, which have become increasingly sought-after solutions in today’s defence and security market. Our objective is to help armed forces increase operational readiness and improve adaptability, which is why we focus not only on simulation hardware and software, but also on scenario design, training methodology, performance evaluation, and long-term capability development.

The Guard® 2.0 simulation engine is a fascinating capability. What advantages does Guard® 2.0 give you?

GUARD® 2.0 simulation engine is the core technology behind all Guardiaris solutions, providing a fully integrated, high-fidelity simulation environment capable of supporting a wide range of training requirements, from individual skills development to complex operations. Because GUARD® is developed entirely in-house, we maintain full control over performance, adaptability, and security, enabling rapid customization for specific customer needs. A key strength of the engine is its advanced terrain generation capability, enabling highly accurate terrain replication based on real-world geospatial data. This is further enhanced by a powerful scenario editor, giving instructors full control over mission design in real time. Within this ecosystem, we also developed our own integrated AI capabilities. The engine therefor supports full interoperability across domains, connecting small arms, vehicles, and other simulation systems into a single unified synthetic battlespace. In practical terms, GUARD® provides defence and security forces with scalable, and future-proof training capability that continuously evolves with operational needs.

The Mobile Training Center is a unique solution for small arms and anti-tank weapon training; can you tell us more about this system and its uses?

Mobile Training Center (MTC) is one of the most innovative and practical military training systems currently available on the market. This fully deployable and self-sufficient training system is designed to enable armed forces to train anywhere, with all systems pre-installed and ready for immediate operation in less than 20 minutes. At the core of the system is Guardiaris' proprietary SAMT technology that delivers immersive visuals, unrestricted soldier movement, and dynamic scenario-based training for both individuals and squads. Today, the MTC is already in operational use by multiple defence customers across Europe and beyond.
