Rules and permits for weapons
Permits
Please note that DALO Industry Days is held on a civilian site.
Exhibitors are solely responsible for having the necessary permits for the storage, transport, and display of equipment, objects, and/or weapon parts that require special authorization and are subject to specific legislation.
We recommend that exhibitors contact the Danish police authority responsible for weapon exhibition permits in Denmark well in advance if there is any doubt about whether the necessary permits are in place.
Weapons and weapon parts must be securely locked overnight. It is the exhibiting company’s responsibility to ensure that weapons, etc., are properly secured. Please note that DALO has only limited weapon storage capacity, which is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Business operators with a Danish permit for commercial buying and selling of weapons and ammunition (weapons dealer license) can, upon a separate application to the police, obtain permission to exhibit weapons and ammunition at a trade fair.
The application must be submitted through www.politi.dk
The following items may be exhibited with permission from the police:
- Firearms and objects that appear as firearms and can be converted to such due to their construction or the material used,
- Parts specially designed or modified for a firearm that are essential to the use of the weapon, including detachable magazines, receivers, firing pins, triggers, barrels, frames, slides, and cylinders.
- Ammunition for firearms, including cartridge cases, primers, detonators, pyrotechnic devices, and projectiles,
- Crossbows and air guns,
- Signal weapons and combined gas and signal weapons,
- Silencers, if designed for mounting on firearms,
- Optical electronic sights with a light beam or with electronic light-enhancing or infrared equipment, if designed for mounting on firearms or crossbows.
The following items can’t be exhibited:
- Smoothbore shotguns with a barrel length of less than 55 cm,
- Pistols, including single-shot pistols, semi-automatic pistols, and revolvers,
- Semi-automatic and fully automatic firearms, except for semi-automatic rifles that use ammunition that meets the conditions for hunting red deer, fallow deer, and wild boar in the executive order on weapons and ammunition for hunting, etc., and semi-automatic rifles designed to use rimfire ammunition with a caliber of no more than 5.6 mm,
- Other similarly particularly dangerous firearms and functional ammunition.
Exhibition of weapons and ammunition must adhere to the following conditions:
- The premises must be inspected and approved by Politiets Administrative Center before the fair takes place. (The inspection will take place no earlier than 2 hours before the opening time of the fair. The exhibited parts must therefore be set up in accordance with the regulations below.)
- Only the quantity of weapons and items necessary to showcase the company's selection may be exhibited.
- Pepper spray must not be present at the booths.
- Functional ammunition must not be present at the booths.
- Small quantities of ammunition may be brought, which must be clearly rendered non-functional by drilling a 4 mm hole through the casing, with the hole directly above the interior bottom of the cartridge case.
- Silencers, magazines, optical electronic sights, and non-functional ammunition must be displayed in lockable glass cabinets or securely fastened with a twisted steel wire, with a thickness of at least 2 mm and not exceeding 150 cm in length for each item, to a table or similar.
- Exhibited firearms must be rendered non-functional, for example, by removing the bolt, fitting a chamber lock, or inserting a conical plug.
- Exhibited firearms must be securely locked with a twisted steel wire, with a thickness of at least 2 mm and not exceeding 150 cm in length for each weapon, to a table or similar.
- Weapons and items covered by the permit must not be transferred at the fair or in its vicinity, including in connection with sales agreements.
- Firearms and items covered by the permit that are part of the fair must be under constant supervision outside the fair's opening hours or must be securely stored in a safe, locked storage, or fastened to a wall or similar, in a location inaccessible to unauthorized individuals.
